教学过程:

Step1 Warming up

1.Greetings

2.Sing some English songs.

3.Free talk.

Step 2 Presentation and drill

1.     出示花园图。

T: What’s this?

Ss: It’s a garden.

板书单词garden.

T:(指着洞)What’s this?

Ss: It’s a hole.

板书单词hole.

2.       拿出一个气球 ,将其吹成一个小球。

T:What do you think of the balloon?

Ss: It’s small.

T: Let’s make it bigger, OK?

Ss: OK.

T: I’m going to blow the balloon. It is becoming bigger and bigger.

让两名学生上台吹气球。

T: Which balloon is bigger? Which balloon is smaller?

教单词bigger和smaller.

3.       出示单词卡片angry, pleased, smaller, bigger.

T: (指着单词卡片angry): Is he angry?

Ss: Yes, he is.

教单词angry.

T: Why is he angry?

Ss: Because his apple is smaller.

T: (指着单词卡片pleased) Is he angry?

Ss:No, he isn’t. He is happy.

T: Yes, he looks pleased.

教单词pleased

T: Why is he pleased?

Ss: Because his apple is bigger.

Step3 Fast reading and listening

1. Read the partA quickly and answer the following question.

Whose singing is louder?  The bigger bird.

Whose singing is sweeter?  The smaller bird.

Whose singing does the girl like better?  The smaller bird.

2. Listen to the tape and read after it.

Step4 Intensive reading.

1.       Read the text carefully and answer the following questions.

Where did the birds live?

What did the two birds look like?

Who gave the birds food?

Why did the bigger bird want more food?

What happened to the smaller bird?

How did the girl help the smaller bird?

Why did the bigger bird fly away?

2.       Finish the exercises in partC.

Step5 Consolidation

1.       Gave some key words or phrase, let Ss retail partA.

2.       Homework

Listen to the tape, recite the text.
